Who may sit CUET (UG), and who decides whether your score gets you a seat. Six questions, and the official line behind each answer.

Have you passed Class 12 (or an equivalent examination), or are you appearing for it in 2026?

Qualifying examinations the bulletin lists

  1. final examination of the 10+2 system by a recognised Central or State Board (such as CBSE or CISCE)
  2. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination by a recognised Board or University
  3. final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
  4. Senior Secondary School Examination of the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects
  5. any Public School, Board or University examination in India or abroad recognised as equivalent to 10+2 by the AIU, UGC or an agency notified by the MoE
  6. Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination
  7. a Diploma recognised by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration
  8. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
  9. High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University, or the International Baccalaureate Diploma
  10. Class 12 completed outside India or from a Board not listed: a UGC equivalence certificate is required
  11. if the Class 12 examination is not a public examination, at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination must have been passed earlier

What this quiz does not tell you

  • Whether a particular university or programme will admit you — minimum marks, subject requirements, age and year-of-passing limits all belong to the university.
  • Anything about reservation categories or documents; those are covered in the bulletin's later chapters and on each university's website.
