EasyOriginal question

Eight people sit in two parallel rows of four, facing each other. Aman, Bhanu, Charan and Diksha sit in Row 1, facing north. Ekta, Faizan, Girish and Heena sit in Row 2, facing south. Each person faces exactly one person in the other row.

1. Bhanu sits at one end of Row 1 and faces Faizan.

2. Ekta sits immediately to the right of Faizan.

3. Diksha faces Ekta.

4. Heena sits at one end of Row 2.

CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Row facing north: left is west, right is east. Row facing south: left is east, right is west. Each person faces the one in the same position of the other row.

  2. Bhanu is at an end of Row 1, so Faizan is at an end of Row 2. Ekta is on Faizan's right, the west side, so there must be a seat west of Faizan: Faizan is at the east end with Ekta beside him.

  3. So Bhanu is at the east end of Row 1, and Diksha faces Ekta. Heena takes the west end of Row 2 and Girish the seat next to her. Charan must not face Girish, so Charan is at the west end and Aman beside him.

  4. West to east: Row 1 Charan, Aman, Diksha, Bhanu; Row 2 Heena, Girish, Ekta, Faizan.

  5. Aman is second from the west; so is Girish.

Worth noting

Heena faces Charan.
