Options for question 61

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. A runs all 15 minutes and fills 1520=34\frac{15}{20} = \frac{3}{4} of the tank.

  2. B must fill the other 14\frac{1}{4}, at 130\frac{1}{30} a minute: 14×30=7.5\frac{1}{4} \times 30 = 7.5 minutes.

Worth noting

10 minutes would have B fill a third of the tank, which overflows it.
