CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. The outlet works against the pipe: net rate =14−16=3−212=112= \frac{1}{4} - \frac{1}{6} = \frac{3 - 2}{12} = \frac{1}{12} of the tank an hour.

  2. So it fills in 12 hours.

Worth noting

2.4 hours adds the two rates, as if the outlet were filling too.
