CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Let the sections have 1, 2 and x parts of students.

  2. Overall average: 60+2×70+80x3+x=72\frac{60 + 2 \times 70 + 80x}{3 + x} = 72.

  3. 200+80x=216+72x200 + 80x = 216 + 72x, so 8x=168x = 16 and x=2x = 2.

  4. Ratio 1:2:21 : 2 : 2; with 25 in the first section, the third has 50.

Worth noting

Check: (25×60+50×70+50×80)÷125=9,000÷125=72(25 \times 60 + 50 \times 70 + 50 \times 80) \div 125 = 9{,}000 \div 125 = 72.
