CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Test ×3\times 3: 2×3=62 \times 3 = 6, but the next term is 5, one less.

  2. So the rule is ×3−1\times 3 - 1: 5×3−1=145 \times 3 - 1 = 14, 14×3−1=4114 \times 3 - 1 = 41, 41×3−1=12241 \times 3 - 1 = 122.

  3. Next term =122×3−1=365= 122 \times 3 - 1 = 365.

Worth noting

366 forgets the −1 and 367 adds 1 instead. The differences (3, 9, 27, 81) tripling is the same rule seen another way: 122+243=365122 + 243 = 365.
