CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. Only one difference can be read directly: 29−17=1229 - 17 = 12, a multiple of 4. Try differences that grow by 4.

  2. Try differences 4, 8, 12, 16, 20: 5+4=95 + 4 = 9, 9+8=179 + 8 = 17, 17+12=2917 + 12 = 29, 29+16=4529 + 16 = 45, 45+20=6545 + 20 = 65.

  3. Every known term fits, so the gaps are 9 and 45.

Worth noting

11 and 43 keeps the ends of the series right but gives differences 6, 6, 12, 14, 22 that follow no rule. Both gaps must fit one pattern at once.
