CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Girls at first = 37.5% of 48=1837.5\% \text{ of } 48 = 18.

  2. After 6 join: girls = 24, class size = 48+6=5448 + 6 = 54.

  3. Percentage = 2454×100=49×100=4449%\frac{24}{54} \times 100 = \frac{4}{9} \times 100 = 44\frac{4}{9}\%.

Worth noting

The class grows too. Keeping 48 as the total gives 2448=50%\frac{24}{48} = 50\%, the tempting wrong answer.
