Options for question 48

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. The whole job = 6×14=846 \times 14 = 84 pump-hours. In 4 hours, 6×4=246 \times 4 = 24 pump-hours are done.

  2. Work left = 60 pump-hours, shared by 4 pumps: 60÷4=1560 \div 4 = 15 hours.

Worth noting

21 hours is how long 4 pumps would take for the WHOLE tank; the first 4 hours of work are already done.
