Options for question 18

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. The extra ₹540 comes only from the extra 2% for 3 years.

  2. P×2×3100=540\frac{P \times 2 \times 3}{100} = 540, so P=540×1006=9000P = \frac{540 \times 100}{6} = 9000.

  3. He deposited ₹9,000.

Worth noting

Dividing by 2 but forgetting the 3 years gives ₹27,000. The extra interest is 2% for EACH of the 3 years, so 6% of P in all.
