Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Interest for the 4 extra years = ₹20,800 − ₹17,600 = ₹3,200, so one year's interest = ₹800.

  2. Principal = ₹17,600 − 2 × ₹800 = ₹16,000.

  3. Rate = 80016000×100=5%\frac{800}{16000} \times 100 = 5\%.

Worth noting

₹3,200 is 20% of ₹16,000, but that covers 4 years. The rate is always per year and on the principal, not on an amount.
