Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. Convert to improper fractions: 312=723\frac{1}{2} = \frac{7}{2} and 137=1071\frac{3}{7} = \frac{10}{7}.

  2. 72×107=7014=5\frac{7}{2} \times \frac{10}{7} = \frac{70}{14} = 5.

Worth noting

Multiplying whole parts and fraction parts separately, 3×1+12×373 \times 1 + \frac{1}{2} \times \frac{3}{7}, gives 33143\frac{3}{14}, which is wrong. Always convert mixed numbers first.
