II. All cups are spoons.

Options for question 1

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. Every spoon is a plate and every plate is a cup, so every spoon is a cup. Conclusion I follows.

  2. Conclusion II turns 'All spoons are cups' around. The cup circle may be much bigger than the spoon circle, so there can be cups that are not spoons. II does not follow.

  3. Only I follows.

Worth noting

'All' is not reversible. From 'All X are Y' you may say 'Some Y are X', never 'All Y are X'.
