CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Distances: 40×12=2040 \times \frac{1}{2} = 20 km and 60×34=4560 \times \frac{3}{4} = 45 km.

  2. Total 65 km in 54\frac{5}{4} h.

  3. Average speed =65÷54=52= 65 \div \frac{5}{4} = 52 km/h.

Worth noting

50 km/h is the mean of the two speeds. The car spends longer at 60 km/h, so the average is above 50.
