Options for question 64

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Upstream = 6 km/h, downstream = 10 km/h.

  2. d6+d10=8\frac{d}{6} + \frac{d}{10} = 8, so 5d+3d30=8\frac{5d + 3d}{30} = 8.

  3. 8d=2408d = 240, d=30d = 30 km.

Worth noting

60 km is the length of the whole round trip. 32 km wrongly assumes the boat moves at 8 km/h both ways.
