Question 5

EasyOriginal question

Which diagram best represents the relationship among Boys, Students and Girls?

Options for question 5

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. No boy is a girl: Boys and Girls are separate circles.

  2. Some boys are students and some are not (a boy who has left school): Boys overlaps Students. The same is true of Girls.

  3. So the picture is two separate circles, each overlapping a third circle.

Worth noting

Two separate circles inside a larger circle is wrong for two reasons: not every boy or girl is a student, and some students are neither boys nor girls (adult students at a college, for example). Either fact is enough to rule it out.
