CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Alligation: cheaper : dearer = (dearer − mean) : (mean − cheaper).

  2. (54−46):(46−42)=8:4=2:1(54 - 46) : (46 - 42) = 8 : 4 = 2 : 1.

Worth noting

1 : 2 puts the differences the wrong way round; the mean is nearer the cheaper rice, so there is more of it.
