CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. The share of gold is 35\frac{3}{5} in A, 15\frac{1}{5} in B and 12\frac{1}{2} in the mixture.

  2. A : B =(12−15):(35−12)=310:110=3:1= \left(\frac{1}{2} - \frac{1}{5}\right) : \left(\frac{3}{5} - \frac{1}{2}\right) = \frac{3}{10} : \frac{1}{10} = 3 : 1.

Worth noting

1 : 3 swaps the two differences.
