Options for question 67

CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Milk is 34\frac{3}{4} of the first jar and 58\frac{5}{8} of the second. With equal amounts, the bowl's share of milk is their average: 12(68+58)=1116\frac{1}{2}\left(\frac{6}{8} + \frac{5}{8}\right) = \frac{11}{16}.

  2. Water is 516\frac{5}{16}, so milk : water =11:5= 11 : 5.

Worth noting

8 : 4 adds the two ratios term by term, which treats a quarter jar and an eighth of a jar as equal parts.
