Question 69

CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Take 2 kg of X and 3 kg of Y. Copper: 2×34+3×12=32 \times \frac{3}{4} + 3 \times \frac{1}{2} = 3 kg; zinc: 2×14+3×12=22 \times \frac{1}{4} + 3 \times \frac{1}{2} = 2 kg.

  2. Copper : zinc =3:2= 3 : 2.

Worth noting

2:12 : 1 adds the ratio terms, (3+1):(1+1)(3 + 1) : (1 + 1), ignoring how much of each alloy is used.
