CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. In 2 hours A fills 28=14\frac{2}{8} = \frac{1}{4}. The rest, 34\frac{3}{4}, fills at 18+112=524\frac{1}{8} + \frac{1}{12} = \frac{5}{24} an hour.

  2. That takes 34÷524=185=3.6\frac{3}{4} \div \frac{5}{24} = \frac{18}{5} = 3.6 hours, so 2+3.6=5.62 + 3.6 = 5.6 hours in all.

Worth noting

3.6 hours is only the time after B joins; the first 2 hours count too.
