Question 76

HardOriginal question

What is ddx(log⁡(x+x2+1))\frac{d}{dx}\left(\log{\left(x + \sqrt{x^{2} + 1} \right)}\right)?

Options for question 76

CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. u=x+x2+1u = x + \sqrt{x^{2} + 1}, u′=1+xx2+1=x2+1+xx2+1u' = 1 + \frac{x}{\sqrt{x^{2} + 1}} = \frac{\sqrt{x^{2} + 1} + x}{\sqrt{x^{2} + 1}}.

  2. u′u=1x2+1\frac{u'}{u} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{x^{2} + 1}}.

Worth noting

1x+x2+1\frac{1}{x + \sqrt{x^{2} + 1}} is 1u\frac{1}{u} without u′u'.
