CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Complete the square: x2+4x+13=(x+2)2+9x^2 + 4x + 13 = (x + 2)^2 + 9.

  2. With t=x+2t = x + 2 and a=3a = 3: ∫dtt2+9=13tan⁡−1x+23+C\int \frac{dt}{t^2 + 9} = \frac{1}{3}\tan^{-1}\frac{x + 2}{3} + C.

Worth noting

x−23\frac{x - 2}{3} gets the sign of the shift wrong: x2+4xx^2 + 4x is (x+2)2−4(x + 2)^2 - 4.
