CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. A repeated factor needs two fractions: 1x(x+1)2=1x−1x+1−1(x+1)2\frac{1}{x(x + 1)^2} = \frac{1}{x} - \frac{1}{x + 1} - \frac{1}{(x + 1)^2}.

  2. ∫−dx(x+1)2=1x+1\int -\frac{dx}{(x + 1)^2} = \frac{1}{x + 1}, so the integral is log⁡∣xx+1∣+1x+1+C\log\left|\frac{x}{x + 1}\right| + \frac{1}{x + 1} + C.

Worth noting

−1x+1-\frac{1}{x + 1} gets the sign of ∫−dx(x+1)2\int -\frac{dx}{(x + 1)^2} wrong: integrating (x+1)−2(x + 1)^{-2} gives −(x+1)−1-(x + 1)^{-1}.
