CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. x≡3(mod4)x \equiv 3 \pmod{4} and x≡4(mod5)x \equiv 4 \pmod{5} both say x≡−1x \equiv -1: one more egg would make whole fours and whole fives.

  2. So x+1x + 1 is a multiple of 20, and the least is x=19x = 19.

Worth noting

23 leaves 3 in fours but also 3 in fives.
