CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Let his present age be xx.

  2. x+4=2(x−7)x + 4 = 2(x - 7), so x+4=2x−14x + 4 = 2x - 14.

  3. x=18x = 18. Check: in 4 years he is 22; 7 years ago he was 11; 22=2×1122 = 2 \times 11.

Worth noting

11 and 22 are his ages 7 years ago and 4 years ahead. Both appear in the check, not as the answer.
