CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Let the children's combined age be cc; Mr Rao is 3c3c.

  2. In 5 years EACH child is 5 years older, so their combined age becomes c+10c + 10.

  3. 3c+5=2(c+10)3c + 5 = 2(c + 10), so c=15c = 15.

  4. Mr Rao = 3×15=453 \times 15 = 45 years.

Worth noting

Adding only 5 to the children's combined age gives 3c+5=2(c+5)3c + 5 = 2(c + 5), c=5c = 5 and an age of 15 years. Two children means the total grows by 10.
