CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. An average question is usually a total question in disguise, so recover the total first.

  2. The five numbers add up to 5×27=1355 \times 27 = 135.

  3. Removing 35 leaves 135−35=100135 - 35 = 100 spread across four numbers.

  4. The new average is 100÷4=25100 \div 4 = 25.

Worth noting

The average falls because the number removed was above the old average. Removing a number below the average would have pushed it up.
