CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Left from east is north, so the legs are 4 km east and 3 km north, at right angles.

  2. Shortest distance =42+32=25=5= \sqrt{4^2 + 3^2} = \sqrt{25} = 5 km.

Worth noting

1 km subtracts the legs, which works only for opposite directions. 3 km or 4 km uses just one leg.
