CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. 72=23×3272 = 2^3 \times 3^2 and 108=22×33108 = 2^2 \times 3^3.

  2. HCF takes the LOWEST power of each common prime: 22×322^2 \times 3^2.

  3. HCF⁡=4×9=36\operatorname{HCF} = 4 \times 9 = 36.

Worth noting

12, 18 and 24 are common factors, but not the highest: each drops one power of 2 or 3. 216 would be the LCM.
