Options for question 34

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Let the price be ₹P. Old price per GB = P2\frac{P}{2}; new = P1.5\frac{P}{1.5}.

  2. Ratio new ÷ old = 21.5=43\frac{2}{1.5} = \frac{4}{3}.

  3. So the price per GB rose by 13\frac{1}{3}, i.e. 3313%33\frac{1}{3}\%.

Worth noting

The data fell by 25%, but the price per GB does not rise by 25%: a 25% fall needs a 2575×100=3313%\frac{25}{75} \times 100 = 33\frac{1}{3}\% rise to compensate.
