CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Let the rate be R% and the time R years. Then SI=P×R×R100\text{SI} = \frac{P \times R \times R}{100}.

  2. R2100=1625\frac{R^2}{100} = \frac{16}{25}, so R2=64R^2 = 64.

  3. R=8%R = 8\%, and the time is 8 years.

Worth noting

Stopping at R2=64R^2 = 64 gives the tempting 64%. Take the square root.
