CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. CI − SI = P(20100)2(3+20100)=P×0.04×3.2=0.128PP\left(\frac{20}{100}\right)^2\left(3 + \frac{20}{100}\right) = P \times 0.04 \times 3.2 = 0.128P.

  2. 0.128P=15360.128P = 1536, so P=15360.128=12000P = \frac{1536}{0.128} = 12000.

  3. The sum is ₹12,000.

Worth noting

₹38,400 uses the 2-year formula. ₹12,800 uses 3 in place of (3+0.2)(3 + 0.2), forgetting the extra R/100R/100 term.
