CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. After rent, 34\frac{3}{4} of the salary is left.

  2. Food takes 25\frac{2}{5} of that, so 35\frac{3}{5} of 34\frac{3}{4} remains: 35×34=920\frac{3}{5} \times \frac{3}{4} = \frac{9}{20}.

  3. 920\frac{9}{20} of salary = ₹12,600, so salary = 12600×20912600 \times \frac{20}{9} = ₹28,000.

Worth noting

The 25\frac{2}{5} is of the remainder, not of the salary. Subtracting 14+25\frac{1}{4} + \frac{2}{5} from 1 leaves 720\frac{7}{20} and gives ₹36,000.
