CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Multiply top and bottom by the conjugate 5+2\sqrt{5} + \sqrt{2}.

  2. Denominator: (5)2−(2)2=5−2=3(\sqrt{5})^2 - (\sqrt{2})^2 = 5 - 2 = 3.

  3. Value =6(5+2)3=2(5+2)= \frac{6(\sqrt{5} + \sqrt{2})}{3} = 2(\sqrt{5} + \sqrt{2}).

Worth noting

The denominator becomes 5−25 - 2, not 5+25 + 2; using 7 gives 6(5+2)7\frac{6(\sqrt{5} + \sqrt{2})}{7}. Keeping the minus sign in the answer forgets that the conjugate flips it.
