CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Total work = 30×40=120030 \times 40 = 1200 worker-days.

  2. In 16 days: 30×16=48030 \times 16 = 480 worker-days, leaving 720.

  3. Now 40 workers: 720÷40=18720 \div 40 = 18 more days.

  4. Total = 16+18=3416 + 18 = 34 days.

Worth noting

18 days counts only the time after the new workers join. 30 days (1200÷40)(1200 \div 40) assumes all 40 workers were there from day 1.
