Question 40

HardOriginal question

CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. In 4 days Chitra does 412=13\frac{4}{12} = \frac{1}{3}; Dinesh does 416=14\frac{4}{16} = \frac{1}{4}.

  2. Ezhil does the rest: 1−13−14=5121 - \frac{1}{3} - \frac{1}{4} = \frac{5}{12}.

  3. Ezhil's share = 512×3600=₹1,500\frac{5}{12} \times 3600 = ₹1{,}500.

Worth noting

All three worked the same 4 days, but that does not mean equal pay: splitting three ways gives ₹1,200, which is Chitra's share, not Ezhil's.
