Options for question 58

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. The overlap cannot be bigger than the smaller group, 25.

  2. 25 is possible: if every Science-lover also likes Mathematics, the Science circle sits inside the Mathematics circle, and 28 students like at least one, which is within 40.

  3. Greatest overlap =25= 25.

Worth noting

13 is the LEAST possible overlap (28+25−40)(28 + 25 - 40). 28 cannot be right, because only 25 students like Science.
