CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. An even sum needs both odd or both even: 5C2+4C2=10+6=16{}^{5}C_2 + {}^{4}C_2 = 10 + 6 = 16 ways.

  2. Out of 9C2=36{}^{9}C_2 = 36, so the probability is 1636=49\frac{16}{36} = \frac{4}{9}.

Worth noting

Two different numbers cannot be the same number twice, so the chance is not exactly one half.
