CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. Let the numbers be 5k5k and 7k7k: 5k+67k+6=79\frac{5k + 6}{7k + 6} = \frac{7}{9}.

  2. 45k+54=49k+4245k + 54 = 49k + 42, so 4k=124k = 12 and k=3k = 3.

  3. The numbers are 15 and 21; the larger is 21. Check: 21:27=7:921 : 27 = 7 : 9.

Worth noting

27 is the larger number AFTER 6 is added.
