Options for question 23

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. BANANA has 6 letters: A three times, N twice, B once.

  2. Swapping identical letters gives nothing new, so divide by the repeats.

  3. Arrangements =6!3!×2!=72012=60= \frac{6!}{3! \times 2!} = \frac{720}{12} = 60.

Worth noting

720 treats the letters as all different. 120 divides only by 3!3! for the A's, and 360 only by 2!2! for the N's.
