Options for question 32

CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Every shortest route is a string of 7 moves: 4 E's and 3 N's.

  2. A route is fixed once you choose which 3 of the 7 moves are N.

  3. Routes =7C3=7×6×56=35= {}^{7}C_{3} = \frac{7 \times 6 \times 5}{6} = 35.

Worth noting

12 multiplies 4×34 \times 3, which is not how routes combine. 128 is 272^7, which allows any number of E's and N's.
