CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Let the denominator be dd; the numerator is d−3d - 3.

  2. d−3+2d+2=45\frac{d - 3 + 2}{d + 2} = \frac{4}{5}, so 5(d−1)=4(d+2)5(d - 1) = 4(d + 2).

  3. 5d−5=4d+85d - 5 = 4d + 8, so d=13d = 13. The fraction is 1013\frac{10}{13}.

  4. Check: 1215=45\frac{12}{15} = \frac{4}{5}.

Worth noting

1215\frac{12}{15} is the fraction AFTER adding 2, not the original. 25\frac{2}{5} comes from adding 2 to the numerator only.
