CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Let there be tt notes of ₹10. Then there are t+3t + 3 of ₹20 and t2\frac{t}{2} of ₹50.

  2. Value: 10t+20(t+3)+50×t2=50010t + 20(t + 3) + 50 \times \frac{t}{2} = 500, i.e. 55t+60=50055t + 60 = 500.

  3. 55t=44055t = 440, so t=8t = 8: 8 notes of ₹10, 11 of ₹20 and 4 of ₹50.

  4. Total =8+11+4=23= 8 + 11 + 4 = 23 notes. (Check: 80+220+200=50080 + 220 + 200 = 500.)

Worth noting

8 and 11 are single denominations; 19 forgets the ₹50 notes. Write every count in terms of one letter before forming the value equation.
