Options for question 1

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Cheaper share = dearer price − mean = 54−46=854 - 46 = 8.

  2. Dearer share = mean − cheaper price = 46−42=446 - 42 = 4.

  3. Cheaper : dearer = 8:4=2:18 : 4 = 2 : 1.

Worth noting

The difference on the dearer side belongs to the CHEAPER variety. Swapping them gives 1:21 : 2, the tempting slip.
