CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Water is a 0% acid solution.

  2. Solution : water = (21−0):(35−21)=21:14=3:2(21 - 0) : (35 - 21) = 21 : 14 = 3 : 2.

  3. 3 parts = 24 litres, so water = 2×8=162 \times 8 = 16 litres.

Worth noting

40 litres is the final volume, not the water added. Check: acid = 0.35×24=8.40.35 \times 24 = 8.4 litres, and 8.4÷40=21%8.4 \div 40 = 21\%.
