CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Acid at first = 0.60×20=120.60 \times 20 = 12 litres.

  2. Removing 5 of 20 litres removes 14\frac{1}{4} of the acid, leaving 12×34=912 \times \frac{3}{4} = 9 litres.

  3. The volume is back to 20 litres, so concentration = 920=45%\frac{9}{20} = 45\%.

Worth noting

48% adds the water without removing anything (12÷25)(12 \div 25). 55% just subtracts 5 from 60.
