CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Each operation keeps 125−25125=45\frac{125 - 25}{125} = \frac{4}{5} of the milk.

  2. Milk after three operations = 125×(45)3=125×64125=64125 \times \left(\frac{4}{5}\right)^3 = 125 \times \frac{64}{125} = 64 litres.

  3. Water = 125−64=61125 - 64 = 61 litres, so milk : water = 64:6164 : 61.

Worth noting

2:32 : 3 comes from subtracting 25 litres of milk three times (leaving 50 litres). 16:916 : 9 is the ratio after only two operations.
