CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. Milk = 710×60=42\frac{7}{10} \times 60 = 42 litres; water = 18 litres.

  2. Milk does not change, so in the new ratio 7 parts = 42 litres and 1 part = 6 litres.

  3. New water = 5×6=305 \times 6 = 30 litres, so add 30−18=1230 - 18 = 12 litres.

Worth noting

30 litres is the new total of water, not the amount to be added. 18 litres is the water already there.
