Options for question 15

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. 60%:90%=(90−80):(80−60)=10:20=1:260\% : 90\% = (90 - 80) : (80 - 60) = 10 : 20 = 1 : 2.

  2. So the 90% mixture must be twice the 60% mixture.

  3. Needed = 2×20=402 \times 20 = 40 litres.

Worth noting

10 litres comes from reversing the ratio. Check: milk = 12+36=4812 + 36 = 48 out of 60 litres = 80%.
